Trip at Nidelven River in wooden boats

Much has been said, and sung for that matter, about Nidelven. The first written material about the piers along the river is Sverre's saga. It tells us that in the spring of 1182, King Sverre set tightly spaced piles right up to the jetties on the west bank of Nidelven. It was King Olav Tryggvason who founded a trading centre on the west bank of Nidelva in 997. A narrow street was laid out parallel to the river, with house plots on both sides. Along the river, gravel jetties were built, held in place by wickerwork fences so that ships could dock. This was the humble beginnings of what is now Trondheim. The city is steeped in Viking history, and on this boat trip you'll get to know the area that was the original trading centre of Nidaros. The tour is carried out in wooden boats built according to old clinker traditions where you get to see the city from a unique perspective. From the water, we pass Nidaros Cathedral, the colourful Bryggerekka and the Old Town Bridge, where you'll get to see them from an angle not available to everyone.

Trip to Geitfjellet "Goat mountain"

Våttakammen-photo_Mykola Ksenofontov-Visit Trondheim

One of Norwegians' greatest pleasures is to put on a pair of hiking boots and head out into nature. Join us on this trip where you can experience this special Norwegian joy.

Of course, we'll bring along a typical “matpakke”, which is a wrapped light meal ready to be enjoyed out and about. In addition, we'll bring a very special Norwegian treat, which may cause a stir if compared to its foreign counterpart.

You'll be picked up by a bus at the hotel, which will take you to the starting point of the hike. The trail itself is 1.8 kilometres long, but be aware that it is steep and climbs many metres.

This hike cannot be completed without suitable footwear with proper grip. When we reach the top, we can enjoy a 360-degree view of Trondheim and the surrounding area. Here we eat our packed lunch before we begin on our way down. When we return to the starting point, the bus is waiting to take us back to the hotel.
